The Bulgarian mixed martial artist has a professional MMA career dating back to 2012 and holds a record of 11-2-0. He’s faced some high level competition including the UFC’s Duško Todorović back in 2015. Over ⅔ of Markulev’s MMA fights have ended by knockout with him only being on the receiving end a single time. The light heavyweight made his BKFC debut at the promotion's second event in Sofia, Bulgaria against his fellow countryman Kaloyan Kolev.
From the young age of four years old, Markulev has been in love with all types of combat sports. He began training karate and then expanded into various other martial arts. His skills have allowed him to fight all throughout Europe and trains out of his home country of Bulgaria where he is one of the most highly regarded fighters.
He discovered a love for traveling when he was in college and participated in an exchange program for students. He’s spent time in Alaska, Cyprus and Toronto and earned a bachelor’s degree in international tourism. Markulev also spent some time working in security. He is a dedicated husband and father to a daughter.
