Austin “No Doubt” Trout knew all along.
The former World Boxing Association champ recently added the BKFC World Welterweight Championship to his resume by taking out BKFC Pound-for-Pound King Luis “Baboon” Palomino with a unanimous decision at the sold-out Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL.
“I’m back,” Trout says with a big smile.
“I lost my belt back in 2013. Since then, everybody has called me the former champ, and I had to correct them – I’d tell them I’m the former champ and the future champ. There was never any doubt – I’m just the champ. Winning this title confirmed what I always knew to be true.”
While many highly accomplished gloved boxers have transitioned to bare knuckle fighting, Trout is the first ever former gloved boxing world champ to strike gold with BKFC, the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion.
The Las Cruces, NM-born Houston fighter is just getting started.
“I’m back home and back to work. I’m definitely enjoying the moment, but I’m already back to work,” he says.
“I’d like to defend my belt against a big name. I’m going to do a lot to build my legacy in combat sports and grow as much as I can with BKFC.”
