Major rankings implications in the welterweight division are on the line Friday at BKFC Fight Night Kansas City as the weight class’ No. 2 contender “Gypsy” Jake Lindsey takes on former division champ Elvin “El Bandido” Brito, now the No. 4 contender in the division, LIVE globally on The BKFC App from Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS.
We asked some of BKFC’s most knowledgeable fighters for their predictions heading into this must-see matchup at 165 pounds.
Zach "Shark Attack" Calmus: Elvin Brito will wipe the floor with Jake Lindsey. He’s too technical and is a highly gifted competitor. I believe Elvin will bleed him slowly, weakening Lindsey with each round until an eventual stoppage or KO, but I’ve been wrong before.
Noah Cutter: I’ve got to go with the homie “Bandito.” He’s got the champ mindset, which is most important for fighters. I think he has his confidence back with that last quick finish. I'd pick Elvin on the comeback.
“Royal” Ryan Reber: I like Jake, but Elvin Brito is my boy, so I’m pulling for him.
Wanya “The Rated R Superstar” Reid: Elvin Brito has a lot of fights under his belt and was once a champ and seems to be looking to take back the spotlight. But I feel Jake Lindsey is a tough dog and shows it every fight. I’m going with Lindsey; he’s younger and stronger.
JR "The Lion" Ridge: Brito is on a tear right now. If not a KO in the third, then by unanimous decision after five rounds.
Esteban "Mohawk" Rodriguez: No doubt Elvin Brito is coming out with the knockout, with forward pressure and strategic jabs.
Ruben "Bad Boy" Warr: I like Brito so I’m gonna be biased and say he will be too much for Jake. My boy is hungry and I want to see him back at the top.
Jared "Captain Deadpool" Warren: I like both these guys, and I don’t think it’ll be an easy win by any means, but I’m going with Lindsey. He’s looked good in all his fights, including his controversial loss for the title.
