Patrick “The Brick” Brady lived up to his nickname in his bare knuckle fighting debut on Saturday at BKFC 61.
Brady’s heavy hands sent the battle-tested Lewis Rumsey to the canvas five times, paving the way to a second-round TKO victory in their heavyweight showdown at the legendary Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT.
You could say it’s love at first fight for Brady and BKFC.
“Bare knuckle is different,” the Philadelphia heavyweight says with a smile.
“It’s not just the techniques that are different; it’s the people involved. The crowd was very engaged, and very into the event. They were there for blood (laughs). It was a really, really, really good experience. The promotion treated me great; I don’t have anything bad to say about the whole experience.”
Brady says that fans can expect to see a lot more of him in the future.
“One’s not enough,” he says. “I’ll definitely be back.”
But to borrow a line from new BKFC Boss Conor McGregor, Brady isn’t here just to take part – he’s here to take over.
“I’m 100-percent totally capable of winning and defending that belt, absolutely.”
