James “Get Down” Brown is ready for his spotlight.
On Friday, the unbeaten Wilmington, NC product looks to smash his way to 3-0 in the Squared Circle against Bovar “The Gladiator” Khanakov (2-1) in a hotly anticipated featherweight showdown, LIVE on The BKFC App from the Salisbury Center in Manassas, VA.
This is Brown’s first fight since he stopped Mike Alvaro at BKFC 41 in April, so he’s eager to reestablish himself as a top contender in the stacked BKFC featherweight division.
“They see Bovar as a title contender in the division. They think he can make it up the rankings and get the belt. That’s fine, but he’s got to get past me first,” Brown says. “That’s my goal also – to grab that belt.”
Brown predicts he’ll rack up a second straight stoppage victory against Khanakov. Brown is currently the No. 4 contender in the bustling 145-pound weight class. He says he’s more than happy to fight anyone to get a shot at BKFC World Featherweight Champion Kai “Hefty Bag” Stewart (5-0) in 2024.
“I really don’t care – I’ll fight anyone that they want me to fight,” Brown says.
“I’ve been calling Brandon Allen out for a year, I’ve been calling Louie Lopez out, and I’m fine with a fight with Howard Davis too. I’m happy to fight anyone in the world at 145 pounds.”
