Jay “Action” Jackson is feeling good.
The hard-hitting light-heavyweight contender is all smiles after recently returning to the win column with a third-round stoppage over Idrees Wasi at BKFC Fight Night Clearwater in Clearwater, FL.
“It was about a year that I didn’t get to fight and that’s a really long wait for me – too long,” he says. “But I was just training my (expletive) off for any opportunity that might come my way with BKFC, so it felt really great to go in there and get the dub.
“I’m on top of the world right now.”
Jackson moved from his native Bay City, MI to Tampa, FL during the winter in pursuit of fighting opportunities in Florida, a hotbed of action for BKFC, the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion.
Michigan will always be home for Jackson, who now boasts a 4-3 record in the Squared Circle, but it appears his move to “The Sunshine State” may be a turning point in his fighting career.
“Michigan is definitely a combat sports state, so I think BKFC will be very popular when bare knuckle is legalized there, but right now Florida is where it’s popping,” Jackson says.
“I love where I’m at, and I see some really big things that I can do down here. I love it here, and I’m going to keep doing big things until eventually I can be a part of BKFC’s debut in Michigan.”
Jackson, 34, wants to keep his momentum rolling with a quick turnaround in the Squared Circle.
“I’m going to fight whoever they decide to put on the paper. I just love fighting, and I hope that I’ve been able to display that when I compete,” he says.
“I’m ready to scrap anybody and move forward in the division.”
