John Dodson is fired up.
The champ is eagerly counting down the days until BKFC 59 on March 29, when he defends his BKFC World Flyweight Championship for the first time against the fast-rising Dagoberto Aguero at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, NM, LIVE on The BKFC App.
Dodson has fought the best of the best in both BKFC and MMA, and he’s excited to make a statement against the Dominican gloved boxing sensation Aguero.
“This is a boxer that’s 17-2 and has been on some big cards in boxing. This is an amazing opportunity to showcase my striking against a dangerous, accomplished pro boxer,” Dodson says.
“He’s the most dangerous boxer that I’ve ever fought.”
That being said, Dodson says there’s no way he’s leaving Tingley Coliseum without his BKFC World Flyweight Championship belt around his waist. For “The Magician,” the belt is a lot more than just another credential on his impressive combat sports resume.
“The belt means the world to me. There can only be one inaugural BKFC flyweight champion, and that’s me,” he says.
“But when you win the title, you have to go out and defend it to prove that you’re actually the true champion. This fight is a mile marker to prove that I will be here for a very long time.”
