It doesn’t matter where Justyn Martinez is asked to fight.
Martinez’s most recent BKFC bout was in Tokyo under the RIZIN Fighting Federation banner. The bout didn’t go his way, but he’d be thrilled to fight again in Asia for BKFC. A bare knuckle bout in Europe would also be interesting as BKFC continues to quickly establish itself across the continent.
Martinez is excited to someday tell his future grandkids about fighting in exotic locales around the world, but his next matchup will be a lot closer to home.
The hard-hitting Wichita, KS fighter returns to the Squared Circle at BKFC Fight Night Kansas City on Aug. 16 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS. He takes on Blaine Warbritton in flyweight action, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App.
“My last fight was overseas and it was a freakin’ awesome experience, but this one is just a three-hour drive away. It’s right in my backyard, so we’re going to have the whole team out there,” Martinez says.
“I’m pumped; I can’t wait.”
Martinez’s first BKFC victory has so far eluded him in his four bare knuckle bouts. Granted, two of his losses came against top flyweight contenders JR Ridge and Chancey Wilson, and one of his outings was declared a No Contest. Martinez works tirelessly in the gym so he can have his hand raised in the Squared Circle, but he’s a lot more focused on the process than the result.
That being said, his first BKFC victory is going to be worth the wait.
“I’m really excited for Kansas City,” he says.
“We’ve been working really hard for a long time, and I feel like I’m starting to get a good understanding of the sport.”
