Former Olympian Rick “Ghengis” Hawn is keen on showcasing his judo skills in the BKFC Squared Circle.
BKFC’s unique rule set allows competitors to take advantage of the clinch, which is enticing for Hawn, who represented the United States at the Olympic Games in 2004.
For better or for worse, Hawn’s lightning-fast bare knuckle fighting debut on Saturday at BKFC 61 didn’t let the hard-hitting Methuen, MA fighter showcase his complete arsenal. The former Bellator MMA title challenger needed just 35 seconds to take out Stephen Stengel in their bout at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT.
Luckily for fans, it sounds like they’ll see a lot more of Hawn’s game in the future. He even has an ideal next opponent in mind – fellow MMA legend-turned-BKFC star Eddie Alvarez.
“He’s a legend and I’d be honored to fight him,” Hawn says, emphasizing the respectful nature of his request to share the Squared Circle with “The Underground King.”
“We were in Bellator at the same time, but I never got the opportunity to fight him. I’ve met him a bit and he’s an amazing guy and a legend in the sport. I think it would be really cool; it would be a full-circle moment for my career.”
