“Royal” Ryan Reber has been chasing gold since he first signed on the dotted line with BKFC.
Six victories later, the undefeated Reber is preparing to challenge Alberto Blas for Blas’ BKFC World Bantamweight Title in the Main Event of BKFC 66 on Sept. 13 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App.
“This is exactly what we’ve been working so hard for,” the New London, CT-born fighter says. “This is exactly what I’ve been putting out into the universe, and now the time has come.”
Reber has been training as a martial artist for more than 20 years. He’s dreamt for most of his life about having a world championship belt around his waist.
“The belt is going to mean everything to me,” he says.
“I’ve worked so hard and have sacrificed so much. So many people have done so much for me along the way too, so the belt is going to mean absolutely everything to me, and also to my supporters.”
But the belt won’t come easy.
Blas is undefeated in his five trips to the Squared Circle, with the Cuban-American bantamweight’s longest victory taking just 72 seconds. He shocked the combat sports world by dethroning the previously unbeaten champ, Keith Richardson, with a 70-second stoppage victory to win the belt at BKFC 62 in June.
“It’s going to be a battle of who wants it more, and who’s more spiritually guided to not get hit by that punch that we don’t see coming. I don’t believe in luck,” Reber says. “I’ve got all the respect in the world for Alberto, but I have a really good feeling about this one – for me.
"This is my time."
