Sean “P-Town” Wilson doesn’t care about the odds.
There’s a good chance he’ll be a sizable underdog against Howard “HD” Davis in their upcoming battle in the Squared Circle, but that doesn’t concern Wilson.
“This is definitely a big opportunity, but I’ve had so many fights that this is just another day in the office at this point,” the Papillion, NB product says ahead of his showdown with Davis on March 15 at Vivo! Dolphin Mall in Miami, LIVE on The BKFC App.
Howard is 5-2-1 in the Squared Circle after most recently going five hard rounds with Kai Stewart for the BKFC World Featherweight Championship at BKFC 56 in December.
“I don’t get psyched out by anything before the fight,” Wilson says, “but I am excited, because this is a big opportunity in my career.”
Some fighters want the easiest possible path to the belt, but that isn’t in Wilson’s DNA. That’s not how he approached his MMA career, which included more than 70 professional bouts, and it’s not how he’s approaching his time with BKFC, where he’s so far amassed a 3-1 record.
“I pride myself on never dodging a fight. I’ve never said no to anybody. I had already accepted this fight before they were even done saying his last name,” he says, smiling.
“I’ve seen so many people picking and choosing, picking and choosing. That’s just not me. Maybe it would be smarter to do it that way, but that’s not me.”
One thing is clear: Wilson fully expects to have his hand raised in victory against Davis.
“I think I either catch him, or it’s going to mimic his last fight, when Kai was on him nonstop,” he says.
“I’d like to finish it in the first two rounds.”
