Tyler Randall will be watching this week’s BKFC 59 Main Event intently.
Friday’s headliner features John “The Magician” Dodson defending the BKFC World Flyweight Championship for the first time against Dagoberto Aguero at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, NM, LIVE on The BKFC App.
Randall is the No. 4 contender in the bustling BKFC flyweight division. The hard-hitting Hoosick Falls, NY product fully believes he’ll challenge (and beat) the winner of Dodson-Aguero later in 2024.
But standing between Randall and his shot at BKFC gold, of course, is JR “The Lion” Ridge. Randall and Ridge, the No. 1 contender at 125 pounds, will do battle at BKFC Clearwater on April 12 at Bert's Barracuda Harley-Davidson in Clearwater, FL.
“I see me and Ridge being a fun, entertaining fight, for sure, but I definitely see myself coming out on top. I don’t think Ridge has the same grit as I do. If you look at who’s had longer rounds, who’s given more shots and taken less shots, it’s been me.
“I have more of a grit and endurance in this sport than Ridge.”
The BKFC men’s flyweight division is quickly becoming one of the organization’s most exciting and competitive weight classes. That’s no surprise to Randall, who’s contested all of his four BKFC fights at 125 pounds.
“I know some people have been iffy about this weight class in the past because of the knockout frequency, but when you take the gloves off, your knockout rate just doubled or tripled,” says Randall, who’s been focusing heavily on conditioning his fists for battle.
“The 125-pound weight class has everything you want to see as a fan.”
