Wanya Reid is a man of the fans.
The Jamaican-born Broward County, FL product loves bringing the crowd to its feet with a highlight-reel KO. But he’s just as happy giving BKFC fans their money’s worth with five action-packed rounds.
That’s exactly what Reid did on Friday with his hard-fought decision victory over Peter Peraza at BKFC 62 at the sold-out Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL.
“I don’t mind going the whole five rounds because that’s just five more rounds of excitement for the crowd, and everybody seems to love it,” says Reid, who’s now 2-1 on the strength of back-to-back wins in the Squared Circle.
“I’m really just trying to establish myself as a dominant fighter.”
Reid would like a quick turnaround and to compete a couple more times before the end of the year. He wants to establish himself as a title contender in the stacked BKFC lightweight division, and eventually help bring the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion to Jamaica, where he was born.
“I’d love to fight in front of all my family and friends back home,” he says.
“Jamaica is a beautiful island. The people are amazing, the food is great, the water is beautiful. I’d love to take some of BKFC’s biggest stars there and go kick some (expletive) and show my country what we’re made of.”
