BKFC 61 RIVERA vs STRAUS
May 11 2024 |
Rick Hawn is an American mixed martial artist and Olympic level Judoka. Born in Chicago, Hawn moved to Eugene, Oregon early on in his life with his family. Hawn has received medals in the Pan Am Championships, Pan Am Games, US Open, Canadian Open, Korea Cup, and US National Championships from 1999 through 2008 in Judo.
In 1996, after graduating from high school, Hawn qualified to live at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. There he trained judo for eight years and ended up qualifying for the 2004 Olympic Games. He went 2-2 and finished ninth place. He fell just short of qualifying for the 2008 games.
Turning his focus to MMA, Hawn fought in Bellator and challenged Michael Chandler for his lightweight title in 2013. Before that, he won the Bellator Season 6 Lightweight Tournament defeating Brent Weedman by decision and after that, the Bellator Season 9 Welterweight Tournament by knocking out Ron Keslar. All in all, Rick Hawn’s MMA record ended at 21-5 and he retired as the Titan FC lightweight champion. All of Hawn’s MMA wins are by knockout or decision so he is a welcome addition to the BKFC roster!
Hawn made his BKFC debut at BKFC 61 where he faced Scott Lampert. Expect a clinch heavy approach from the Judoka but look for him to be comfortable wherever the fight takes place.
