Zach ‘Shark Attack’ Calmus has been involved in combat professionally since 2020. He experimented a bit in his amateur days, trying his hand at both kickboxing and Muay Thai but made the jump to traditional boxing for his pro debut. He won that fight by knockout in the very first round and about five months later, made the choice to remove the gloves and step into the BKFC’s Squared Circle. It’s worth mentioning that Calmus has over 20 boxing matches under his belt from his amateur career.

With influences coming from pro wrestling, hockey and horror movies, “Shark Attack” is a natural showman, not just in the ring but outside of it as well. Any time you see that Zach Calmus is going to toe the line, you should know that you’re in for a brutal show and he more than embraces this. He always steps in to win but it seems even by his own words that entertaining the BKFC audience is his top priority, so expect a war every time. Luckily for all of us, the heavyweight has a chin and throws bombs! With a pressure-heavy style, he puts a pace on whoever he faces. He’s thrown over 100 punches in every one of his fights and threw almost 300 in a loss against Juan Torres, a fight he wants to run back ASAP.

Reflecting on his first knockout win in the Squared Circle back at BKFC 39, Calmus said his father, who he looks up to, cried tears of joy for days after the event. It’s clear that the New Englander is a family man and family includes his wife, his friends, his pet dogs and the people that have supported his journey through the BKFC heavyweight rankings.
