Bill Albrecht made his BKFC debut at the Albuquerque Prospect Series where he defeated Freddy Sandoval in dominant fashion. Fighting at light heavyweight, the Oklahoma-based fighter will have his hands full as he attempts to rise through the ranks of a hard hitting and powerful division. However, if he can continue putting on performances as he did in his debut, all 185’ers should be on notice..
His MMA career spans ten years from 2007 to 2017 and he's fought some very high-level competition. Most notably, Albrecht fought the UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland in King of the Cage, a California regional promotion.
He has a strong BJJ/wrestler style with several armbars and triangles on his record and being an old school guy, his aggression and takedowns are solid as opposed to some of these newer BJJ guys who are dangerous on the ground but can't get it there. Why bring up BJJ in relation to a purely boxing match? He's going to use that physicality similar to how a wrestler would. We have seen wrestlers have a lot of success in the BKFC as of late.
Take an old school brawler, sprinkle some grit and a resolve that can only come with nearly 40 professional fights and you have a dangerous veteran with new motivation in a new sport. After a seven-year hiatus, the 46-year-old feels the need to scratch that "fight itch" and show these young guys how it's done.
